Inhoud

Value and recognise learning, skills and competencies

Associazione InCo, Civico13, Awero, Associazione Interculturale NUR, and the Cities of Learning Network are organising a Training Course - Youth Workers Exchange to promote learning, skills, and competence development and recognition through youth work, volunteering, and non-formal education.
Dates: 15-21 November 2025

What do we aim to achieve?

  1. To explore and exchange local youth work with a focus on learning, skills and competencies.
  2. To deepen the understanding of skills and competence models and how to use them in youth work.
  3. To learn how to design learning recognition systems for youth work activities and programmes.
  4. To develop a practical understanding of digital Open Badges and platforms for recognition (e.g. Cities of Learning and Youthpass);
  5. To improve reflection, self-assessment and recognition competencies;
Additional opportunity: To network and make professional contacts for future European youth work collaboration.


Who can apply for this training course?

  • Youth workers
  • Youth work managers
  • Youth trainers and facilitators
  • Practitioners working in the field of non-formal learning and/or youth work

Participants should be involved in their daily work (or highly interested in it):
  • Dealing with learning, skills and competence development;
  • Willing to explore how to design learning, skills and competence recognition systems
  • Curious and open to using digital tools and platforms in youth work;
  • They should also be: residents in the countries identified in the call;
  • Able to communicate in English
  • Above 18 years old

Activity venue

Villa Sant’Ignazio, Trento, Italy.
The training venue is situated in the hills, offering a picturesque setting surrounded by mountains and transformed by the changing colours of the seasons. This scenery allows you to admire the entire city of Trento and reach it on foot in just over 5 minutes.
Villa S. Ignazio also welcomes groups that demonstrate an affinity for social commitment and share the values of cooperation, choosing to carry out activities and initiatives in our learning and leisure spaces. We are talking about a place where diversity - social, generational, and cultural - coexists in the daily life of the venue.

Costs

Travel costs will be reimbursed based on the actual costs, not exceeding the lump sums based on the travel distances, in Euro:
  • 10-99 km - 28 / green travel - 56
  • 100-499 km - 211/ green travel - 285
  • 500-1999 km - 309/ green travel 417
  • 2000-2999 km - 395/ green travel 535

Only costs that are justified will be eligible for reimbursement. If travel costs exceed the lump sums, the remaining costs shall be covered by the participant or their sending organisation.

Participants may opt for the “green travel” options, which come with a slightly higher travel budget. Please contact the organiser for more information about eligible green travel options.

Board, lodging, local transportation and programme implementation costs will be covered upon full participation in the event.

To balance the YWE activity budget, we invite participants to contribute a 50 euro participation fee, which will be deducted from the travel costs reimbursement. In justified cases, participants may request a discount or waive the contribution. Participation fee should not be a barrier to participation.


Digital credentials and certification

This youth workers exchange is a unique opportunity for participants to use up-to-date and digital recognition solutions, such as digital Open Badges. Every participant will get a Youthpass certificate and a portfolio of Open badges linked to specific learning experiences.

This training activity is an offer by the Cities of Learning Network to get ready for using digital Open Badges for recognition. It is our commitment to support organisations in building their badge-based recognition practices. Organisations that attend the training and start using badges will have the opportunity to apply for the Quality Label for Badge recognition. Find out more about this badge quality standard.

Apply to participate in the training course to gain the following:

  • Understanding of the importance of supporting non-formal education learning outcomes with a solid system of awareness, visibility and shareability of such outcomes
  • Knowledge and skills in how to use the technology of digital Open badges

  • Understanding of issuing badges is a non-formal setting, and how issued badges can be valuable for the earners
  • Access to numerous resources to learn about Open Badges and how learners, issuers and organisations can benefit from them
  • Hands-on practice of creating and issuing Open badges
  • Chance to be engaged in the community of Open Badges practitioners
